Review: Harpoon Octoberfest, ehhhhh… B-

Just had this one on tap at Franklin Park in Brooklyn. Saturday nights there are crazy. It’s October, this is an Octoberfest beer on tap… conditions can’t get much better for drinking it. Too bad.

I wasn’t that impressed. The appearance was probably the best part. A dark amber hue that went almost to a copper magenta made it interesting to hold and ponder while watching a drunk guy eat a cookie off the floor.

Smell was nuts, some roasted malts, hint of hops, but nothing too strong. The taste was the same. It almost tasted like water in the middle, with some nuts up front and what tasted like a berry or two in the initial landing on the tongue. Drinkability is solid, mouthfeel is light to medium. Overall though, I’m not impressed. Just a bit too watery for my taste.
