Glad this one is still on tap at Washington Commons. (Where I’m five days from mayor, William G!).

Poured heady, but has little head retention, excellent lacing, nice deep amber/red appearance that looks dark as he’ll in this dimly lit bar. Smell has hints of brandy- but I would disagree that it’s dominating. Also oak and malts. Taste had a typical doppelbock rich and creaminess, and includes a biting sweetness of brandy with it. Pretty exceptional. Mouthfeel is medium to thick – sticks with style. Highly drinkable- you don’t notice the alc and the sweetness makes it fun.

I’ll come back for more, Washington Commons!

Update: End of glass sweetness overwhelming, toning down drinkability as it warms.
